ABCnet Giant UFO balloon lifts off in Alice

It looks like an giant elongated jelly fish floating towards the edge of space - and as it drifts from Alice Springs towards Queensland today, some people might think aliens have arrived.

"Oh, some people will think it is a UFO," Associate Professor Ravi Sood said this morning after launching the 300-metre-long scientific balloon.

"At the moment it is absolutely spectacular.

"You can see it from miles around because it so big and the sky is clear and it is very easy to detect with the naked eye - as it will be when it gets to 40 kilometres."

Dailymail Boy, 3, tells how he 'saw grandmother in Heaven' before being brought back from the dead after falling into pond

"A boy of three claims he saw his great grandmother in heaven while he was clinically dead after falling into a pond.

Paul Eicke came back to life more than three hours after his heart stopped beating.

It is believed he was in the pond at his grandparents' house for several minutes before his grandfather saw him and pulled him out.

His father gave him heart massage and mouth-to-mouth during the ten minutes it took a helicopter to arrive.

Paramedics then took over and Paul was taken the ten-minute journey to hospital. Doctors tried to resuscitate him for hours. They had just given up when,

three hours and 18 minutes after he was brought in, Paul's heart started beating independently.

Professor Lothar Schweigerer, director of the Helios Clinic where Paul was taken, said: 'I have never experienced anything like it.

'When children have been underwater for a few minutes they mostly don't make it. This is a most extraordinary case.'

The boy said that while unconscious he saw his great grandmother Emmi, who had turned him back from a gate and urged him to go back to his parents.

Paul said: 'There was a lot of light and I was floating. I came to a gate and I saw Grandma Emmi on the other side.

'She said to me, "What are you doing here Paul? You must go back to mummy and daddy. I will wait for you here."

'I knew I was in heaven. But grandma said I had to come home. She said that I should go back very quickly.

'Heaven looked nice. But I am glad I am back with mummy and daddy now.' "

"A row of ancient stones that mirrors the path of the sun like Stonehenge but is up to 1,000 years older has been unearthed on Dartmoor.

The discovery of the megaliths has thrilled archaeologists and once again raised debate about the purpose of Stonehenge, which is 120 miles away on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire.

The nine stones at Cut Hill, one of the highest points on Dartmoor in Devon, have been carbon-dated to around 3,500BC."

AllZimNews  'Goblin' attacks Schoolboy

"A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Visitation Makumbe High schoolboy cut short his studies in February after he was afflicted by a strange condition that causes him to physically fight an invisible “monster”.

Confirming the boy’s condition, Visitation Makumbe High School resident priest Father Barnabas Mukumba last week said the boy initially complained of stomach pains that were followed by bouts of unconsciousness.

The Form One student was described as intelligent and scored four units in last year’s Grade Seven national examinations.

The school authorities believe that the invisible “monster” could be a “goblin”.

Although the school authorities could not confirm it, the boy’s parents say their child experienced a “transfiguration” on February 10, the night before a major fight with the invisible opponent caused his body to glow.

“The boy would complain of stomach pains that would end in him being unconsciousness. At times he would be taunted by the invisible monster which would force him to scream and use his hands to fight it. "

gizmodo "When you look at most of the two dozen or so people in this photograph, which belongs to a Canadian museum, there's no doubt that they're from 1940, the year in which it was taken. But what about that guy?

Those funky sunglasses? That stamped t-shirt and hippie shawl? The doofy, disinterested expression? He sure as hell doesn't look like any Roosevelt-era bro I have ever seen. Maybe that's just it—he looks like a "bro," which we all know didn't come into existence until the 1970s, at the earliest."

ninemsn British Woman Wakes Up With Foreign Accent

"British woman has woken up speaking with a Chinese accent after reportedly suffering brain damage brought on by a severe migraine.

Sarah Colwill, 35, has carried an English West Country accent her entire life but now sounds like she hails from the far east, British newspapers report.

Doctors have reportedly told Ms Colwill she suffers from Foreign Accent Syndrome (FAS), an extremely rare condition with only a few recorded cases.

Ms Colwill believes her sudden accent shift can be traced back to one migraine attack that was so bad she had to be taken to hospital."

guardian.co.uk Have any (football) teams ever attempted to harness psychic power?

"Always one to seek an extra edge, the ever-flamboyant Malcolm Allison got in touch with the hypnotist/illusionist Romark (real name Ronald Markham) during his spell as manager at Crystal Palace in the mid-70s. The pair fell out, however, amid reports of an unpaid bill, and Romark apparently placed a curse on Palace. Then, on the eve of Palace's 1976 FA Cup semi-final against Southampton, Romark contacted Lawrie McMenemy's secretary, Val Gardner, and arranged a meeting with the Saints manager. "I took the coward's way out and agreed to see him," McMenemy wrote in a May 2005 Southern Daily Echo column."
